AN APOLOGY TO THE FLORIDA "SNOW BIRDS"

When I wrote my post yesterday about the weather in Florida, I had no idea the damage and loss of life had been so devastating. My head is partially hanging in shame. I feel like a bad doggy. I apologize to all those who may have been offended by my stating "the snow birds would be making an exodus back north of the Mason-Dixon Line." I just did not realize the gravity of the situation until I read the AJC paper this morning.

I truly feel so much sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives, and for those who lost their homes. Evidently, one retirement community, The Village, was almost wiped off the map. It looked like a war zone in Iraq in the newspaper photo. I pray they will find peace and comfort in the relief efforts, and have their homes repaired or replaced soon. The loss of family members can never be replaced and I grieve with them. I am very glad the loss of life was not more severe. The forces of nature, such as this one, have no real defense against them.

Again, my apologies to all concerned.

I feel you had a point really. We've been offered a job in Florida and weather is one of the main "cons" against taking the position. Along with Insurance rates and problems collecting when your property is damaged.

If I were a Snowbird I'd opt for Hilton Head or Coastal Georgia instead.
