Their father and I tried to raise 'em right but you never really know who may have more influence over them when they leave that protective home nest. I know mine have had some ups and downs but managed to weather the storms without too many scratches. It helps that my son has a great wife, and their children have a great Mom and Dad. My DIL is the greatest gal and she has my vote for sainthood at times. She really loves her family, attends nursing college, and is dealing with a severely disabled child and a very intelligent 5 year old. Praise God for wonderful, unselfish mothers such as she. My son is working and attending his last semester of college this fall. He has been struggling to make this last degree he wants and, then he will be like a fish out of water when he graduates. He has been in and out of college for 6 years. What a financial and mental relief it will be for both of them to complete the degree programs. My hubby and I try to help when and where we can.
My daughter has recently divorced her abusive husband and is struggling to raise their 7 year old son on her own. The ex-hubby is a jerk and a sometimes, a bad influence on his son, but my grandson loves his dad, and she tries to let him see him as much as he wants and needs to at this time. She always has to cope with him acting up after he returns from a visit with dad! I know it is better she is out of that abusive relationship, but it hurts when you see your child being mentally and emotionally upset by a visit with dad. Maybe, in time, my grandson will learn dad is to be taking with a grain of salt and that not all dads are like his. I pray for all of them. May God work on his heart and make him a better dad soon.
Speaking of my ex-SIL, the race car nut, I have a bone to pick about this society we live in up here in the Atlanta, GA area. We have some of the rudest, worse drivers in this world. I think they lose their normal brains, and drive using the lower functioning base part of their brains, the rest is just air head space! We have become a demolish derby driver mentality society. It is like we are on a race track and have to get to the finish line before anyone else. What is up with that? I cannot believe some of the rude and down right life threatening things people do when driving their cars. Some of them actually get out at stop signs, and stop lights, and accost other drivers, if they have been driving too close, or have passed them, or other slights.

We had a man in the Atlanta area stab another man because he was following too close. The little guy in the little car, ahead of the tailgater, walked back to tell him about it, at a stop light. The huge guy in the tailgating panel work truck, stabbed the little guy. He then claimed self defense because he was afraid the little guy was going to hurt him! The guy was 6' 4'' and weighed 300 pounds, who killed the 5' 7' 160 pound man. He did this killing in full view of the little guy's wife and children waiting in his car. The little guy was stupid in the first place to accost the big guy, but to end up being killed just because he wanted to tell the man to stop following too close! PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK! No weapon was found in the little guy's hand, or on his person. The only weapon was from this towering, raging bull, who could have downed the little guy with one punch to the jaw. I hope the little guy's wife and kids get the last word, plus get a big settlement from the company who employed this guy and owned the truck. NO MONEY CAN BRING THIS HUBBY AND DAD BACK, BUT IT CAN HELP THEM IN THE FUTURE! The black guy killed the little white guy and it was immediately a race crime. The black guy was being profiled and prosecuted unfairly, according to the black community leaders! Several witnesses saw what the little guy did, and what the big guy did, end of story. I hope he fries and dies!
I think MOST OF US have lost our minds when we drive a car, not me, but the other guys. I drive like a grandma and obey the speed limits and other road signs. I am glad when all the hot rod drivers pass me. I try not to drive anywhere, unless I have to do it. I let my hubby drive. He is a driving nut sometimes himself, but at least he tries to be more reasonable than most. What causes people to be the way they are when driving in heavily populated areas, which seems to be where most road rage crimes occur? Is it a certain part of the brain that malfunctions? Do we feel invincible in our heavy metal containers? Do we watch too much TV and the movies with all those fab chase scenes, or macho automotive commercials? Could we avoid this kind of brain fart with a special "driving" pill? We've got Viagra for a droopy woody, Paxil for depression, Lithum and other meds for bipolar, diet pills, diabetes pills, heart pills, why not a "road rage" pill? Can you just imagine that wonderful feeling of less stress on the roadway, people being courteous to each other on the road, people waving at each other with the entire hand, instead of the middle finger. People actually relaxing and smiling as they pass you on the highway? I know it is a dream and probably will never be reality, unless we equip the cars with the anti-road rage devices, as we do with lo-jack and anti-theft devices. They make seat belts for dummies, why not restraints for road rage dummies? Our air pollution is worsen because of so many road rage brain farts, any suggestions for clearing up this problem of bad, nasty, unhinged, farting drivers would be greatly appreciated. Send your suggestions to your local police departments, vehicle manufacturers, drug companies labs, local churches, and best of all, the idiots in jail for the crimes against other drivers!
Remember to share the love and kindness in your life as bread on the waters!
Hugs, GA Peach

Great rant and post. Driver's down here are not getting any kinder as of late either. It's only a matter of time I fear.
Savannah is nice, but so are many places west of here and in SC that are just as nice. It is hard to compare a gorgeous city to a lovely, quiet hometown. They both have their benefits.
