MY HAY FEVER IS KILLING ME

I am sick of my hay fever. I have a runny nose, coughing, and congestion from being outside about 30 minutes yesterday. I did not see any hay! I use an inhaler, Nasonex, and Clartin-D and still get this junk. To top it off, I am allergic to Allbutrol, which is relatively inexpensive, and I have to take the Flo-Vent 110 mg. which is about $100.00 per little inhaler. At least, I go first class, while my little bit of money helps pay for the drug company's research. I finally found a health clinic here which helps me get most of my meds free from the drug companies. I thank God for them!!

When I lived in Savannah, we called this "Savannah Crude". We blamed Union-Camp and the smelly marshes, and numerous trees. Up here in Atlanta area, which by the way has been called "The Asthma Capital", it is worse. I had my allergy doctor tell me that all the growth and building in this area has unearthed spores deep in the ground. He states the spores have been lying there, dormant, and not bothering anyone, and now they are in the air everywhere. I believe him. I have the allergies which are called "non-specific", which is another name for "we don't know what the hell is wrong with you." The doctor cannot make an anti-allergen for me to take the shots. Which is okay with me, since I cannot abide needles for very long. I passed out when they put about 40 of those needle sticks on my back to test for my allergy responses. I kept telling the nurse I was feeling cold and sick and she ignored me. I started sweating and my blood pressure went south or north and I deflate like a balloon. Thank God, I was on an examining tablet, or I would have had a nasty fall. Anyway, enough of that talk. I just needed to bitch for a few minutes and get most of it out of my system.

How is your Sunday morning coming down? I hope you were able to go to church and will have a wonderful day with your families. My husband has gone to church without me and I am here alone with my dog, Rosie, and crying on y'all shoulders. He didn't want to leave me but I told him to go on and enjoy the sermon for both of us. Our little church has only about 100 members and is Union Primitive Baptist Church. It is one of the oldest churches in the Roswell area, soon to belong to the new city of Milton, I think. With all the annexing of every bit of land around the cities, or the little cities up here becoming incorporated, Atlanta's North Fulton county will soon be just Fulton county. I wonder what ya gonna do then, Fulton, when your main tax base is gone? The town of Sandy Springs just incorporated last year and is being managed by an outside firm which takes care of the city's business. Wow, can you just see where Al Capone would have loved that opportunity. Of course, these folks are bonded and insured up the wazoo, or they better be. There is so much unchecked opportunity for unsavory characters putting their hands in the money drawer.

On to more pleasant things, we have a fairly nice sunny day here with just a little coldness. It is just enough to help you get where you are going without too much delay. I am inside but had to put the sweet Rosie out a few minutes ago. I took a deep breath and started coughing again. I am so looking forward to my hubby and I sitting in our easy chairs and watching the pro-football game of all time. It has been so long since Da Colts and Da Bears were punting, running, smashing, kicking, touching down and out, in the big Super Bowl Game! I am looking forward to the Madison Avenue ads and hype and the half-time show by half-timers (LOL). I will be watching, if I have to bundle up in a quilt, turn on the vaporizer, and slap on the Vick's salve, and chew cough drops!

I was not able to cook up a lot of party foods. I guess we will be eating sub- sandwiches and chowing down on chips and brownies. Hey, a sick person has to eat. Feed a cold and starve a fever is an old remedy! Besides, it is all low-fat. Right!
I will just hide the fever until after the game.

You all enjoy and watch da Colts kick da Bears butts! Y'all come back and sit on the veranda with me anytime. I got lots of wicker chairs and even a settee to share with you. Y'all can pass the mint julep and the mimosas among yourselves. I will just suck on my cough syrup bottle!

Remember, always share the love and kindness in your life with others, it is manna (bread) on the waters!

Hope you are feeling better soon. Curl up with a bottle of Nyquil this afternoon before the game.

My two girls are wheezing and snuffling all the time now.

Thank goodness, I don't suffer from it.

I'm breaking out the fondue pot for the game. I'm going to fill it with Johnny Harris BBQ sauce and dip everything around me in it. That's about all I've learned to do so far.

Hang in there!

I never had a single allergy until I moved south to Savannah. "Spores" was the first culprit, causing me to itch all over for no apparant reason.

Pine Pollen? I never heard of such a thing. Bleach now makes me break out in hives.

You'd think, being from such a toxic waste dump in NJ. Plagued by smog, pollution, mercury and medical waste being washed up on the shore... that a bit of fresh country air and the nature of the South would be kind to me.
